What is South Eastern Michigan Indians, Inc.?
Our History...
In the early 1970's it was recognized that the cultural, economic, and social needs of the Native american Indian community required a central place to develop. Many meetings of community members and leaders led to the establishment of a non-profit organization.

On may 30, 1975, the organization was incorporated as South Eastern Michigan Indians, Inc. and opened an office to provide services to the Native American Indians of the Tri-County area.

In the April of 1993, S.E.M.I.I. opened it's doors in a new facility in Center Line, Michigan. From our new Center we offer a wide range of programs to those in need.

Our Goals & Objectives...
South Eastern Michigan Indians, Inc. works with other agencies and government departments to promote and encourage training and skill development programs.

S.E.M.I.I. provides a wide range of services for both Native American and Non-Native individuals alike. From our Emergency Food program to our Summer Youth, S.E.M.I.I. serves it's community with pride.

We work together with other communities, organizations, and non-Native people to promote cultural awarness and foster understanding.

Programs & Services...
S.E.M.I.I. exsists with the simple goal to promote self-suffiency, cultural awarness, and social well-being not just in the Native community, but in service to our entire community as a whole.

We promote understanding of our culture through the use of Educational training, Crafts, Information, and Traditional Values.

Through our Center we offer a variety of programs aimed towards our Seniors, such as a Senior Nutrition Outreach, activities, bingo, and trips, Focus Hope, a free Income Tax service provided by the Accounting Aid Society, and Health monitoring services.

We also offer a Summer Youth Program, for children ages 6 to 14. This program offers traditional teachings, native crafts, field trips, cultural interaction, and a mini Pow Wow.
